What makes ShowCamp so unique? The Shows!!
A performing arts education is incomplete without the development of performance skills. ShowCamp productions provide a practical application for newly discovered talent and acquired techniques. At ShowCamp, young performing artists have the opportunity to be a part of a production team. Through this collaborative creative process they develop auditioning skills, rehearsal procedures, and learn about lights, sound, set construction, costumes and make up. The performance is where the pieces of the puzzle come together and all the hard work is rewarded by the interaction and appreciation of an enthusiastic audience. This is where the heart of the performing artist beats strong, and the joy of the musical theatre experience is realized.
A ShowCamp production tells a story through songs, dances, drama, and comedy. On occasion, ShowCamp has produced traditional “book” musicals such as Joseph (2002), Seussical (2007), and Wonka (2011). But since there are few existing musicals that can showcase the talents of a large cast of children, ShowCamp has created it’s own performance venue. Original shows are written to accommodate the cast of talent that is enrolled in each ShowCamp session. This freedom of creative expression provides a format to feature the performers more often, and in a more age-appropriate way. Over the years these ShowCamp original shows have given countless performance opportunities to thousands of kids, while at the same time providing the community with high quality, award-winning productions from the world of entertainment that is ShowCamp.
